Leyna Rumpler Chooses Baldwin Wallace For College Wrestling

Posted on:

North Allegheny senior Leyna Rumpler will continue her academic and athletic career at collegiate level next season. Rumpler signed her letter of intent on Wednesday to join the women’s wrestling team at Baldwin Wallace University after announcing her commitment via social media on November 9. She is the first girl in North Allegheny history to sign a letter of intent to wrestle in college.

Last year as a junior, Rumpler became the first girl in school history to win a state title when she took home gold at the Pennsylvania Girls Wrestling State Championships. Her performance helped the Tigers finish a program best 5th place at the state tournament. She also claimed gold at the PA Girls Western Regional and Western PA Girls Championships last year. Rumpler was selected to the PWCA Academic All-State 2nd Team. She is a 3-year letterman and 2-year captain.

This past spring Rumpler also won the PAUSAW Women’s Junior Freestyle State Championship and qualified for the US Wrestling Women’s National Championship. Rumpler has also been part of the Pennsylvania Women’s Junior National Dual Team the past three-year years. This past year she was part of the team that finished in 3rd place at the USA Wrestling Women’s National Duals.

Rumpler will major in Pre-Law at Baldwin Wallace University.
