2018-2019 Game Summaries
The North Allegheny gymnastics team rounded out the 2019 season at the WPIAL Individual Championship on Saturday.
Punctuating a fantastic freshman season, Reyna Garvey stole the show by earning four WPIAL medals. Garvey won gold on the beam (9.725), silver on the bars (9.55) and bronze in the vault (9.683). Overall, Garvey scored a 38.358 in the all-around which was good for another second-place medal.
Junior Jenna McConnell gave an outstanding performance on the bars (9.46) for a fourth-place finish. Other Tigers who competed at the individual portion of the WPIAL championships included freshman Gena Chick and junior Kelsey O’Neill. For a complete look at NA’s scoring, click here.
The North Allegheny gymnastics team earned a fourth-place finish at the WPIAL championships on Friday night. The Tigers earned a team score of 142.718.
The Thomas Jefferson Jaguars won the WPIAL title, dethroning Moon who was hoping for its second three-peat in the last eight years. TJ posted a team score of 146.375 for its first WPIAL crown in program history.
Moon finished with a team score of 144.883 for second place and Pine-Richland took third with a team score of 144.265.
Individually for the NA Tigers, freshman Reyna Garvey led the team in the vault (9.825), bars (9.63), beam (9.75) and floor (9.375) events.
Adding to the impressive NA effort was sophomore Jenna McConnell with solid scores in the vault (9.25), beam (8.7) and floor (9.25) competitions.
Junior Kelsey O’Neill posted strong scores in the vault (9.25), bars (9.26) and floor (9.175) events. For a full look at the NA individual scoring, click here.

The North Allegheny gymnastics team qualified for the WPIAL championship with a second-place finish on senior night. The Tigers posted a team score of 141.4, their highest of the season, finishing narrowly behind first-place Pine-Richland, who posted a team scored of 141.650. Hampton (136.8), Burrell (133.9) and Fox Chapel (121.850) also competed at Wednesday night’s event.
The Lady Tigers were paced by freshman Reyna Garvey, who led the team in the vault (9.7), bars (9.6), beam (9.1) and floor (9.5) events. Junior Kelsey O’Neill had a good night as well with strong scores in the vault (9.1), bars (9.45) and floor (9.3) competitions. Sophomore Jenna McConnell came through with solid performances in the vault (9.0) and floor (9.3) events. Senior manager Logan Falk was honored before the meet for senior night. North Allegheny will try to take home a title at the WPIAL Championship on Friday, February 15.
The North Allegheny gymnastics team earned a first-place finish in a quad-meet with Pine-Richland, Fox Chapel and Chartiers Valley. The Tigers took the top spot with a team score of 137.2 at Thursday’s event.
Top performances were provided by freshman Reyna Garvey and junior Kelsey O’Neill. Garvey led the Tigers in the vault (9.725), beam (9.6) and floor (9.3) events. O’Neill paced the Tigers on the bars with a score of 9.3. Sophomore Jenna McConnell also had a good showing, including a score of 9.150 in the vault competition. Tonight’s scheduled meet at Fox Chapel has been postponed due to weather.
In a meet that was rescheduled from earlier in the month, the North Allegheny Tigers claimed second place in a quad-meet with Thomas Jefferson, Baldwin and Hampton. The Tigers totaled a team score of 140.7. Thomas Jefferson won the meet with a score of 144.1.
Standout freshman Reyna Garvey once again had a strong night for the Tigers, leading in the vault (9.6), Bars (9.35), Beam (9.6) and floor (9.45) events. Junior Kelsey O’Neill matched Garvey on the bars (9.35) and posted solid results in the vault (9.0) and floor (8.8) events. Sophomore Jenna McConnell contributed with a 9.0 in both the vault and floor competition, and added a 9.1 on the beam. For a look at all of the NA results from Wednesday night’s meet, click here.
North Allegheny will return to action on Thursday, Jan. 31 for a tri-meet at Pine-Richland.
