First-Place Tigers Win 6th Straight With 7-0 Blowout Of Butler

Posted on:

The first-place North Allegheny Tigers atoned for their only loss of the season in a big way on Thursday night with a 7-0 whitewash of the Butler Golden Tornado at the Baierl Ice Complex. Back on Oct. 28, Butler handed NA it’s only blemish of the season thus far with a 2-1 win in an overtime shootout. Senior captain Will Parreaguirre posted a hat trick, helping the Tigers exact revenge and earn their sixth straight win.

In a one-sided contest, North Allegheny outshot Butler, 35-12, and built a 3-0 lead by the end of the first period. Vince Abel, Parreaguirre and Tyler Lamark all tallied markers in the opening stanza.

In the second period, Adam Evans and Tyler Sippel added on to the NA lead to bring the score to 5-0. Parreaguirre finished off his hat trick, and the Golden Tornado in the process, with two more goals in the third period to close out a 7-0 win.

Goalie Josh Bailey faced only 12 shots and stopped them all to earn the victory and his second shutout of the season.

With the win, North Allegheny improves to 10-0-1 just past the midway point of the season. The Tigers sit in first place in the Class AAA standings with 21 points. Butler dips to 2-9-0 on the campaign. North Allegheny will skate against Pine-Richland on Monday night at 7:00 p.m.
