Hempfield Stops Tigers In Non-Section Contest, 9-4

The Hempfield Spartans dealt North Allegheny only its second loss of the season with a 9-4 decision at NASH on Saturday afternoon. Hempfield’s Jordan Fiedor went 3 for 4 with two RBI’s and pitched 1.1 innings of scoreless relief to earn the victory. Cam Rhouds also drove in a pair for the Spartans.

North Allegheny got off to a nice start, jumping out to a 3-1 lead in the second inning. Bobby Brown drove in a run with a double and scored on a Hempfield error in the first inning. Junior Turner White singled home Luke Trueman in the second inning for a prompt two-run lead.

However, the Spartans were able to score eight runs against the North Allegheny bullpen in the mid-to-late innings to pull away for the non-section win. The Tigers committed four errors in game as only three of the nine runs score by the Spartans were earned. Junior Colin Cain took the loss for NA in relief.

North Allegheny’s record sits at 9-2 overall following the non-section loss. Hempfield, who is tied for first place in Section 2-AAAAAA, improves to 9-5 overall. The Tigers will host Plum on Monday night in another non-section contest at 7:00.
