Lady Tigers bounce back, sweep Pine-Richland

After falling to Shaler last Thursday, ending a 27-match win streak. The Lady Tigers started a new one on Monday night defeating the Pine-Richland Rams 25-20, 25-20 and 25-23 at North Allegheny High School.

North Allegheny started the match strong jumping out to an 8-2 lead. The Lady Tigers would extend the lead to 14-5 before Pine-Richland started to work their way back into the set. The Rams would get as close as four points at 24-20 but the Tigers would close the set out to win 25-20. The second set had the same ups and downs as North Allegheny jumped out to the early lead, Pine-Richland fought back, but it was the Tigers again winning set two 25-20 again.

With Pine-Richland’s back against the wall, they started the third set on fire, jumping out to a 17-11 lead. North Allegheny got the lead down to one at 17-16. It was back and forth the rest of the set but with the Lady Tigers clinging to a 24-23 lead, Carissa Treser got the game-winning kill and North Allegheny completed the 3-0 sweep.

Ella Deeter and Treser led the way for North Allegheny with nine kills a piece. Jadyn Perkins had five kills and 10 blocks. Kyra Schmidt had four kills. Caroline Curran contributed 16 digs. Rebecca Pilotta pitched in eight digs and Avery Butcher helped with six digs. Mia Tuman facilitated with 31 assists and three blocks. The Lady Tigers served well with six aces.

North Allegheny improves to 6-1 overall and 5-1 in Section 1-AAAA. Pine-Richland falls to 5-2 overall and 4-2 in the section. The Lady Tigers are back in action Thursday at home, taking on Seneca Valley at 7 p.m. This game will be live-streamed on the North Allegheny Sports Network.
