Lady Tigers Roll Over Rams, 2-0
On a rainy night in Pine-Richland, the North Allegheny Lady Tigers went on the road a shut out the Rams, 2-0, for a Section 2-AAA win. The Lady Tigers stormed out of the gates in the first half, placing persistent pressure on the Rams. North Allegheny outshot Pine-Richland 17-2 in the opening half and scored the first goal of the night in game’s 29th minute. A long shot by junior Emily Lyon struck the cross bar and the ball was buried home by sophomore forward Amanda Miller for a 1-0 Tigers lead. Just two minutes later, the Tigers struck again when junior Savana Yurick scored to make it 2-0, NA. Yurick’s goal was assisted by junior defender Monica Pike.
Owning the lead, the North Allegheny defense stymied the Rams in the second half, allowing little penetration into the Tigers zone. North Allegheny yielded on four shots in the second half with goalie Madison Martin stopping all six shots she faced for the night.
North Allegheny jumps to 4-0 overall and 2-0 in the section. Pine-Richland drops to 3-2-1 overall and 0-1 in section play. The Lady Tigers host Mercyhurst Prep on Wednesday night in a non-section game at Newman Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 7:30 pm.
