The North Allegheny Athletic Department is proud to announce the hiring of Manuel Montero as the new head coach of the boys’ soccer team.

A native of Columbia, Montero brings a wealth of youth and collegiate coaching experience to North Allegheny. Prior to arriving in Pittsburgh, Montero most recently was a men’s and women’s assistant coach for the last five seasons at De Anza College in Cupertino, CA. He has also served as head coach at Westmont High School (2017-2019), Cristo Rey High School (2016-2017) and June Jordan High School (2013-2016), all in California. He has also coached for San Francisco United, Almaden FC, and most recently, the De Anza Force Club.

Developing his love for the sport in Columbia, Montero played club soccer growing up and also at the collegiate level. After high school, Montero joined the U.S. Army, where he was deployed to Afghanistan and became an Infantry Sergeant.

At North Allegheny, Montero inherits a boys’ soccer program that has reached the WPIAL playoffs 12 consecutive seasons, including two WPIAL titles and a state semifinal appearance in that span.

Montero and the Tigers will open the 2022 season on August 20 with a home scrimmage against Franklin Regional.
