Moturi, Naik Advance to Section 2 Semi-Finals
Moving indoors to the Lakevue Athletic Club Monday morning, senior Soureesh Moturi and junior Ven Naik each won two rounds at the Section 2 Singles Tennis Tournament to advance to Tuesday’s semi-final round.
Seeded fourth, Naik defeated 13th seed Trevor Bell of Butler 10-1 in the first round. Moturi, seeded 6th, defeated Jason Minicozzi of Pine-Richland 10-4 in his first matchup. In the quarterfinals, Naik defeated 12th seed Avant Shetty of Moon, by a 10-2 count. Moturi then upset Saarang Mulukutla of Sewickley Academy, the 3rd seed, by a 10-1 score in their quarterfinal contest.
Tuesday afternoon Naik will take on the top seed, Sewickley Academy’s Arjan Beddi in the first semi-final while Moturi will match up against the 2nd seed, Nick Magnelli of Moon. Match time is scheduled for 2 PM on the NASH courts.
