NA Celebrates Senior Night With Win Over Butler

Eighteen North Allegheny swimmers and divers finished their home-meet careers with a victory over Butler.  In their four-year careers the senior class finished on top in all their home meets.  The contest against Butler was no exception. The boys won by the score of 105 – 63 and the girls won by the score of 105 – 75.

The girls’ 200 Medley Relay team composed of seniors Anna Verardi, Caitlyn Edwards, Megan Christy and Kathryn Davis began the meet with a win.  Senior Lauren McGrath won the 200 Free and senior Kathryn Davis followed with a victory in the 50 Free.  Senior Aimee Verardi touch first in the 100 Fly while senior Caitlyn Edwards finished third.  Senior swimmer Kathryn Davis had a second place finish in the 500 as she was just out touched by NA swimmer Emma Kunzmann.  The senior 200 Free Relay team of Aimee Verardi, Megan Christy, Caitlyn Edwards and Lauren McGrath won the 200 Free Relay.  The NA Diving team composed of seniors Alexa Brennen, Maddie Mianzo, Alaina Oberle, and Morgan Rutan rallied for a 4th place finish in the event.  Anna Verardi continued the strong senior performances with a win in the 100 Back.  Megan Christy finished 3rd in the 100 Breast.  The girls finished their senior night with Lauren McGrath, Kathryn Davis, Aimee Verardi and Anna Verardi winning the 400 Free Relay.

The NA senior boys were just as impressive as Brett Edwards joined seniors Maxwell Gonzalez, Thomas McCaffrey and Eben Krigger in winning the 200 Medley Relay.  Seniors Maxwell Gonzalez and Eric Staab finished 1-2 in the 50 Free.  Eben Krigger cruised to victory in the 100 Fly while fellow senior Thomas McCaffrey finished third.  Senior Zachary Shuckrow finished third in the 200 IM.  Seniors Maxwell Gonzalez, Eric Staab and Eben Krigger anchored the 1st place 200 Free Relay victory while Mason Gonzalez helped the diving relay team with seniors Trey Serbin and Nathan Zeigler finish fourth.  Maxwell Gonzalez won the 100 Back.  Brett Edwards joined seniors Eric Staab, Thomas McCaffrey and Eben Krigger to finish the night with a 400 Free Relay victory.

The women senior divers were led by first place finisher Maddie Elias.  Fellow senior classmates Morgan Rutan finished third and Alexa Brennen finished fourth.   Senior Trey Serbin’s second place finish led the boy divers and senior Nathan Zeigler finished fifth.

The team finishes off their dual meet schedule on Thursday, February 16, at North Hills. The meet begins at 6 p.m.
