NA Collects Third Straight Section Win At Indiana
The North Allegheny wrestling team won its third straight section meet with a 56-18 triumph at Indiana on Friday night. Starting at 138 pounds, the Tigers won the first five bouts for a quick a 24-0 lead and cruised to the victory.
Five Tigers earned wins by fall, including Freddy Junko (145), Nick Marcenelle (195), Ben Grafton (285), Nicholas Gorman (106) and Nathan Monteparte (126). At 152 pounds, freshman Grant MacKay was dominant with a tech fall win over Brad Petras, 19-3. Senior Ian Branstetter picked up an 11-2 major decision at 160 pounds over Brody Kunselman.
With the win, North Allegheny remains undefeated with a 3-0 mark in Section 3-AAA. Indiana falls to 1-2. The Tigers will compete in the Tool City Tournament on Jan. 3-4 in Meadville, PA.
