NA Comes Up Just Short To Butler, 1-0, in 2OT

The North Allegheny boys’ soccer team was edged by the Butler Golden Tornado on Thursday night in a road Section 1-AAAA contest, 1-0, in double overtime.

The Tigers outshot the Golden Tornado, 12-5, and held their section foe in check most of regulation and overtime. However, a handball was called on NA in the goal box in the 97th minute. Butler junior Cody Lubinsky capitalized on the opportunity and scored the game-winning goal to give the Golden Tornado an important section win.

Butler’s Drew Knight made eight saves for the clean sheet. Junior Dante Accamando made four saves for the Tigers.

North Allegheny falls to 7-5-1 overall and 5-5 in Section 1-AAAA. Butler improves to 8-3-2 overall and 4-3-2 in the section. The Tigers look to bounce back on Tuesday night against North Hills. The game will be broadcast live by the North Allegheny Sports Network.
