NA Cross Country Wraps Up Section Schedule
North Allegheny cross country teams traveled to Butler to finish off their dual meet season against section rivals Butler and Shaler. The course was hilly and the heat index was over 90 degrees. The girls had little trouble bringing home two victories, while the boys beat Shaler but lost to Butler.
The girls’ team bested Shaler, 16-45, and Butler, 18-42. The Lady Tigers ran tough upfront with Hannah Lindgren, Keeley Misutka and Lexi Sundgren taking the top three overall spots, respectively. Maura Mlecko finished between Butler’s top two girls with a strong fifth-place overall finish. Jenna Mlecko was fifth for NA, out sprinting Shaler’s second runner for eighth overall. Katie Ranallo and Emily Thompson ran well, displacing many Titans and Golden Tornadoes.
The NA Boys lost in a close match with Butler, 26-30, while easily defeating Shaler, 15-48. Dan McGoey led the Tigers with a second-place overall finish. Drew Kollitz was next for NA with a fourth-place finish. Graham Wolfe (7th), Stephen Nalepa (8th) and Connor Foody (9th) rounded out the top five scorers for NA.
