NA Drops Section Game To No. 4 Pine-Richland

Returning to section play to begin the new year, the North Allegheny Tigers fell at No. 4 Pine-Richland on Friday night by an 81-60 decision.

The Tigers started hot and shot 83-percent (10 for 12) in the first quarter for a 23-20 lead. North Allegheny had three players finish in double figures, led by senior Grant Timmerson with 16 points and nine rebounds. Senior Luke Colella totaled 12 points and junior Khalil Dinkins added 10 points.

Pine-Richland weathered the early storm and outscored the Tigers, 19-9, in the second quarter to grab a 39-32 lead by halftime. Strong perimeter shooting helped the Rams seize control in the second half on their way to an 81-60 win.

Pine-Richland connected on 13 of 22 shots from beyond the arc, with Kyle Polce and Joseph Petcash pouring in five 3-pointers each. Polce finished with 19 points and Petcash totaled 17. The Rams were paced senior Logan Murray’s 24 points, and senior Patrick Shanahan chipped in with 10.

With the loss, North Allegheny slips to 5-6 overall and 0-2 in Section 1-6A. Pine-Richland sits at 8-2 overall and 2-0 section play. The Tigers look to bounce back on Tuesday night with an important home game against the Central Catholic Vikings. The game will be broadcast live via the internet on the North Allegheny Sports Network.
