NA Falls To Bethel Park, 3-2

The Bethel Park Black Hawks edged the North Allegheny Tigers on Monday night at the Baierl Ice Complex in PIHL Class AAA action. Vince Vituccio broke a 2-2 tie with a power play goal at the 6:42 mark of the second period to supply what proved to be the game-winning goal. Bethel Park goalie Nicholas Guimond stopped 28 of 30 pucks and blanked the Tigers in the third period. NA net minder Ryan Heil made 18 saves.

Bethel Park and North Allegheny played to a 1-1 tie after one period thanks to unassisted goals for each side. BP’s J.C. Bele tallied the first goal just 33 seconds into the game and NA answered on a tally by Aaron Miller at the 7:07 mark of the period.

The action in the second period proved to be decisive as Bethel Park cashed in on two power play opportunities. The first man-advantage goal came just 1:19 into the period on a shot by Ryan McLinden to give the Black Hawks a 2-1 lead. North Allegheny knotted the score at 2-2 courtesy of a Haden Shimko goal, assisted by Dylan Watkins, at 5:41 of the second. That set the stage for Vituccio’s game winner with 10:18 remaining in the second period.

The loss drops North Allegheny to 6-3-1-0 on the season. Bethel Park improves to 4-5-1-0 on the campaign. The Tigers will have the holiday break off and will return to the ice on January 2 at 7:00 p.m. with a road contest at Central Catholic.
