The North Allegheny girls’ basketball team rallied to force overtime against Elizabeth Seton (MD) but fell 46-40 on Saturday at the MLK Tournament at Woodland Hills High School. The Tigers trailed most of the game but junior Lizzy Groetsch made a basket in the paint near the end of regulation to send the game to overtime. In the extra session, Elizabeth Seton outscored NA, 12-6, to claim the win.

NA trailed 28-21 after three quarters but the Tigers roared back in the fourth period to tie the game at 34-34. Sophomore Emma Fischer led the Tigers with 12 points and poured in three 3-pointers. Freshman Jasmine Timmerson chipped in with nine points.

Elizabeth Seton was paced by Ava Robinson and Randi Baldwin who scored 19 and 18 points, respectively.

In a game that was decided in overtime, it was a rare off night for the Tigers at the free-throw line, shooting just 12 of 24 at the stripe.

Following the tough non-section contest, North Allegheny falls to 11-3 on the season. The Tigers return to section play and will host Seneca Valley on Monday night at 7:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast live via the internet on the North Allegheny Sports Network.
