NA Falls To Third-Ranked Pine-Richland

The North Allegheny boys’ basketball team dropped a 75-51 decision to Pine-Richland in Section 1-6A action on Friday night. Pine-Richland’s success on the glass helped the Rams win their eighth game in a row. Senior Colin Luellen posted a double-double for the Rams with 16 points and 10 rebounds.

North Allegheny hung tough with Pine-Richland in the first half and used an 8-0 run in the second quarter to stay within striking distance, trailing 26-21. Senior Walker Davidson, and juniors Mike Iuzzolino and Justin Altmeyer combined for 6 of 13 shooting from beyond the arc to help keep pace.

Pine-Richland led 33-26 at halftime but busted the game open by outscoring NA 23-7 in the third quarter. Senior Daniel Petcash netted a game-high 20 points for the Rams and junior Logan Murray scored 17.

Iuzzolino led the Tigers with 11 points and senior Anthony Hattrup followed with eight points. Hattrup was selected as the Wright Automotive Player of the Game by the North Allegheny Sports Network.

Following the loss, North Allegheny slips to 5-4 overall and 0-2 in the section. Pine-Richland improves to 9-2 overall and 2-0 in section play. The Tigers look to bounce back on Tuesday night with visit to Central Catholic at 7:30 p.m.
