NA Field Hockey Falls To Mt. Lebanon

With a postseason berth already secured for both North Allegheny and Mt. Lebanon, the Tigers and Blue Devils met on Monday with an opportunity to better their playoff seeding in the upcoming WPIAL playoffs. The host Blue Devils prevailed for a 5-0 win, snapping the Tigers’ four-game winning streak.

Mt. Lebanon outshot North Allegheny, 14-4, and held the advantage in penalty corners, 7-4. The Blue Devils cashed in early with their penalty corner opportunities, converting for the first two goals of the night. Georgia Esan tallied the first marker less than four minutes into the game for a 1-0 lead. Emelia Krakora added another on a corner with 15:42 remaining in the first half to give the Blue Devils a 2-0 lead. A Pfeifer Hill goal just over two minutes later ballooned Mt. Lebanon’s advantage to 3-0.

The Blue Devils finished off the scoring in the second half with goals from Delfina Szidetny and Lauren Gill to close out a 5-0 win over the Tigers.

North Allegheny dips to 7-9-1 overall and 6-2 in WPIAL Division I. Mt. Lebanon improves to 7-1 in the division and sits in second place. The Tigers hope to bounce back against another playoff-bound opponent on Wednesday when the Pine-Richland Rams come to Newman Stadium. The contest will be broadcast live via the internet on the North Allegheny Sports Network.
