NA Grapplers Win Mid-Winter Mayhem Title

The North Allegheny wrestling team won its third tournament of the season on Saturday by taking home the first-place trophy at the Mid-Winter Mayhem tournament in Indiana, PA. The Tigers totaled 235 team points, outdistancing second-place Forest Hills by over 75 points.

The Tigers crowned three individual champions, three runners-up and three other medalists.

Winning individual gold were Nick Gorman (106), Dylan Coy (120) and Max Stedeford (138). In the 106-pound title bout, Gorman pinned Penn-Trafford’s Troy Hohman at the 1:33 mark. Coy also earned a win by fall in his title bout at 120 pounds, taking down Carter Stanley of Seneca Valley in 3:59. At 138, Stedeford earned a 7-2 decision over Kenn Duschek of Freedom Area for first place.

Earning tournament silver were Grant MacKay (152), Nick Marcenelle (195) and Ben Grafton (285). At 145 pounds, Freddy Junko picked up a fourth-place medal.

Winning fifth-place bouts were Nathan Monteparte (126) and Luke Rumpler (220). Monteparte earned a 2-0 decision against Eli Broughner of North Star and Rumpler defeated Alex Lukachunis of St. Mary’s by a 2-1 decision.
