NA Hoopsters Fall At New Castle

New Castle used extended runs to begin the first and second half to claim a 63-41 win over the North Allegheny Tigers on Friday night. The Red Hurricanes opened the game with a 16-2 run and traded baskets for the remainder of the half to lead 35-21 at intermission.  New Castle busted the game wide open with a 15-0 run to start the third quarter en route to the Section 3-AAAA victory.

New Castle out-rebounded the Tigers, 26-12, and was led by senior Malik Hooker who posted a double-double with 20 points and 10 boards. Anthony Richards was 5 of 8 from beyond the arc and finished with 19 points.  Drew Allen chipped in with 15 points for the Red Hurricanes.  North Allegheny had one player touch double digits as Elijah Zeise scored 10 points on the night.

North Allegheny drops its second straight and falls to 10-2 overall and 4-2 in section play.  New Castle remains undefeated at 11-0 overall and 6-0 within the section.  The Tigers hope to rebound on Tuesday night against North Hills in a game that will be broadcast live via the internet on the North Allegheny Sports Network. The Red Hurricanes visit Hampton in a battle of unbeaten on Tuesday.
