NA Prevails At Pine-Richland, 4-1

The North Allegheny girls’ soccer team vanquished the Pine-Richland Rams for a 4-1 road win in Section 1-AAAA action.

Following a 10-goal outburst in the second half of Monday’s victory over Shaler, the Tigers continued their torrid play against the Rams. In the 2nd minute, senior Allie Burns scored quickly to give North Allegheny an immediate 1-0 lead. Pine-Richland managed to stay close with North Allegheny through most of the first half before a couple of late strikes gave the Tigers a decided advantage going into halftime. With 2:35 left in the half, senior Lucia Wells tallied a marker for a 2-0 lead. The Tigers advantage swelled to 3-0 on a goal by Abigail Stager with just 51 seconds left in the half.

In the second half, Wells capitalized on a penalty kick with 35:52 on the clock for a 4-0 lead. Pine-Richland broke the shutout with a goal a minute later but could come no closer as North Allegheny prevailed, 4-1. Junior goalie Natalie Rak made six saves to pick up the victory in net.

North Allegheny improves to 12-1 overall and 8-1 in Section 1-AAAA. Pine-Richland slips to 3-4-1 overall and in section play. The Tigers will visit Butler on Monday for another section contest.
