The North Allegheny ice hockey team remained perfect on the season with a 2-1 home win over Bethel Park on Monday night. The Tigers were outshot, 34-14, but goalie Richard Karapandi made 33 saves to ensure the victory.  In a rare feat, the game was played without a single penalty called on either team.

Bethel Park scored the first goal of the game on a tally by Jeffrey Bele at the 13:48 mark of the first period for a 1-0 lead.

North Allegheny got even in the second period when Tyler Putnam scored, assisted by Matt Gentile and Karapandi, to knot the score at 1-1.

At the 15:12 mark of the third period, the Tigers’ Christopher Hanlon netted the game-winning goal to propel NA to a 2-1 victory. Hanlon’s marker was assisted by Nathaniel Heil and Kevin Hart.

With the win, North Allegheny improves to 4-0 on the season and leads the Class AAA standings with eight points. Bethel Park suffers its first loss of the year and dips to 2-1. The Tigers visit Canon-McMillan on Tuesday, Oct. 30 at 7:00 p.m.
