NA Rules Day One of WPIAL Championship

The NA Swimmers had a strong showing in the first day of the WPIAL championship at Trees Pool at the University of Pittsburgh. The Tigers were up to the challenge from the other teams participating. The Lady Tigers have a first day score of 268, well ahead of second-place Mount Lebanon with a team score of 125. The NA Boys lead with way with a team score of 218, with Seneca Valley just behind them at 170.

The ladies started the meet great, narrowly missing the WPIAL Medley Relay record by .03 seconds. The team was composed of Torie Buerger, Olivia Kisow, Ella Ogden and Olivia Kraus. Molly Smyers and Lexi Sundgren took silver and bronze respectively for the 200 Free. Buerger won gold for the 200 IM. Kraus got silver for the 50 Free. Ogden also got silver for the 100 Fly. The girls finished off the day by winning the 200 Free Relay, with the team of Sundgren, Smyers, Quinn Frost and Ogden.

The NA Boys started off the day by taking a close race against Seneca Valley for the 200 Medley relay, with the team of Rick Mihm, Jacob McCarran, Branko Kosanovich and Matt Turzai touching first. Josh Galecki got silver for the 200 Free. Mihm won gold for the 200 IM. Alex Grahor took silver for the 50 Free. Kosanovich got bronze for the 100 Fly. The NA Boys ended the first day by winning the 200 Free Relay. The team was made up of Galecki, Grahor, Turzai and Kosanovich.

Day two of the WPIAL Swimming Championships resumes Friday morning.
