Posted on:

It was another offensive explosion for the North Allegheny girls’ lacrosse team on Tuesday night, earning an 18-6 section win over Shaler at Newman Stadium. It was the seventh consecutive victory for the Tigers.

Time of possession was again important for the Tigers as senior Katie Oates scooped up a team-best eight ground balls and senior Makenna Tuman won 10-of-18 draw controls. As a result, NA controlled the possessions and the scoreboard, jumping out to a 9-3 lead by intermission and cruising in the second half.

Senior Skye DePrado continued to sizzle with a seven-goal performance and caused five turnovers. Katie Oates tallied a hat trick, while senior Lola Wilhite, junior Bella Falo and sophomore Mila Prusak posted two goals apiece. Juniors Amelia Henderson and Emma Lafayette chipped in with one goal each.

The North Allegheny limited Shaler’s offense thanks to strong defense from sophomore Becka Oates and senior Kristen Kinzler. Freshman goalie Izzy Trunzo had a fine game with nine saves to earn the victory.

North Allegheny leaps to 7-1 overall and 5-0 in Section 2-AAA. The Tigers will visit Seneca Valley on Thursday at 6:00 pm for another section contest.
