NA Swimmers Beat Franklin Regional

Senior Jacquelyn Du set a pool record of 52.28 in winning the 100-yard freestyle and freshman Ann Juneau won two individual events as the North Allegheny girls swimming and diving team beat Franklin Regional 104-74 on January 13 at North Allegheny Senior High School.  Sophomore Eben Krigger won the 100-yard butterfly and anchored the winning 200-yard freestyle relay team as the boys also won, 106-72.

For the girls, divers Julia Vespoli, Madeline Mianzo and Eliza Gaber took the top three spots, with Vespoli posting the winning score of 261.90 among divers.  Juneau won the 200-yard individual medley in 2:10.10 and the 500-yard freestyle in 5:25.23.  Other first-place finishers were senior Morgan Soulia in the 200-yard freestyle (1:57.75); sophomore Lauren McGrath in the 50-yard freestyle (24.88); senior Maggie Root in the 100-yard butterfly (1:00.43); senior Charlie Brickner in the 100-yard backstroke (1:01.15) and junior Erin Kuhn in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:08.45).  Brickner, Kuhn, Root and sophomore Aimee Verardi combined to win the 200-yard medley relay in 1:53.52.  Soulia teamed with McGrath, sophomore Anna Verardi and junior Katie Wright to win the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:38.87.

For the boys, Krigger won the 100-yard butterfly in 55.33.  The other first-place finishers were freshman Andrew Zhang in the 200-yard freestyle (1:52.67); sophomore Brett Edwards in the 200-yard individual medley (2:05.98); sophomore Max Gonzalez in the 50-yard freestyle (22.70); freshman Matt Kuhn in the 500-yard freestyle (5:12.68); and senior Jake Krivacs in the 100-yard backstroke (58.02).  Krigger teamed with senior Max Staresinic, freshman Mason Gonzalez and junior Daniel Songer to win the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:28.61. The swimmers are next in action this weekend at the All-American Invitational in Wilkes-Barre.  The divers host the North Allegheny Diving Invitational at North Allegheny Senior High School on Saturday, January 17.
