NA Tennis Begins Trek Toward 4th Straight PIAA Title

Winners of three consecutive PIAA titles, the North Allegheny girls’ tennis team began its trek toward a fourth straight crown with a 5-0 win in the 2016 season opener over the Upper St. Clair Panthers on Monday afternoon.

In singles play, sisters Anna Li and Tina Li quickly disposed of Marlo Schiffman and Avery Jencka in straight sets. Sophomore Ashley Huang added a dominant 6-1, 6-0, victory over Lauren Pickernick.

Freshman Rebekah Rest and senior Jenna Kolano earned a 7-5, 6-1, triumph over Fallon Winseck and Arusle Kewalumani in No. 1  doubles. Sophomore Riya Yadav and freshman Katherine Ambrose topped Hamalee Joshi and Necha Potel, 6-1, 6-4, to round out the win.

Following the season opening non-section win, North Allegheny will host Shady Side Academy on Tuesday morning at 10:00 a.m.
