NA Tigers Row for Gold at Midwest Championship

The North Allegheny HS Rowing team has spent this season developing the skills and camaraderie necessary to be a formidable competitor. On May 13-14, 2017, the Tigers proved their hard work had paid off when they faced off against 46 schools at the Midwest Scholastic Rowing Championship on Dillon Lake in Nashport, OH.  The weather and waters were perfect for the competition and the team rowed strong on Saturday with 15 NA boats qualifying for the semi-finals.  During the Sunday finals, NA went on to put 11 boats in top 5 positions including four first place finishes.  The Tigers determination and efforts culminated in an overall 8th place finish and a team total of 95 points (Women 48 points and Men 47 points).

Mens HS Varsity Quad  Tim Appleton, Nick Hladio, Gearoid Ridenour and Arie Kalcevic

Mens HS Junior Double  Christopher Hallen / Gearoid Ridenour  – 3rd place

Mens HS Varsity Double Nick. Hladio / Schaefer King   –  3rd place

Womens HS Junior Double Rachel Hopey / Faylyn Kalchthaler – 3rd place

Mens HS Junior Double  John Secen / Emmanuel Mouganis    –  4th place

Womens HS Junior Double  Brooke Gauntner / Catie Guckert  –  4th place

Womens HS Varsity Pair Julia Losco / Catie Guckert – 5th place

Womens HS Varsity Quad  Julia Losco, Megan Kelly, Francesca Balest, Savannah Clem –  5th place

 

Finalists will go on to participate in the Nationals at the Scholastic Rowing Association of America Regatta on May 26-27.
