NA Upended By Seneca Valley, 4-2

Seneca Valley scored three unanswered goals to claim a 4-2 win over the North Allegheny Tigers on Monday night at the Baierl Ice Complex. The win vaults the Raiders into a second-place tie with Cathedral Prep in the PIHL Class AAA standings with 17 points. The Tigers fall into a fourth-place tie with Mt. Lebanon with 15 points.

Behind 1-0 in the first period, North Allegheny struck for back-to-back goals in the late stages of the opening stanza for a 2-1 lead. Will Parreaguire scored NA’s first goal with 1:48 remaining in the period to tie the game. With just two seconds left in the first period, Tyler Lamark tallied a marker, assisted by Parreaguirre and Bernardo Vieira, to give the Tigers a one-goal lead.

Seneca Valley evened the score at 2-2 in the second period courtesy of a goal from Michael Spokane. In the third period, Marshall Maier netted what proved to be the game-winning goal for the Raiders at the 4:23 mark of the period. Hunter Mueller added an empty net goal to bring the final score to 4-2, Raiders.

Seneca Valley goalie Logan Johnson picked up the win and made 25 saves. NA net minder Ryan Heil stopped 18 pucks and kept NA in the game in the third period with some stellar saves.

North Allegheny falls to 7-4-1 following the loss. Seneca Valley jumps to 8-2-1 on the season. The Tigers host Peters Township on Thursday night at 9:00 p.m.
