North Allegheny went 4 for 5 on the power play as the Tigers lit up the Central Catholic Vikings on Thursday night, 7-4, at the Baierl Ice Complex in Warrendale. Senor forward Tyler Lamark helped lead the way for the Tigers with a four-point night, contributing a goal and three assists. Sophomore Connor Chi tallied three points with one goal and two assists.

In a back-and-forth first period, North Allegheny concluded the stanza with a 3-2 lead thanks to goals from freshman Trey Gallo, Lamark and Chi. The goals by Gallo and Lamark both came on the power play.

The Tigers advanced the lead to 4-2 on a power play goal from Aaron Mark at the 2:42 mark of the second period. Central Catholic answered back with a power play goal of its own at the 5:26 mark thanks to a goal from Sam Gaffney, trimming the NA lead to 4-3. That’s as close as the Vikings would get, however, as the Tigers scored twice before the end of the period on goals by Tyler Putnam and Luke Washabaugh for a 6-3 lead. Washabaugh’s goal came on the man-advantage.

In the third period, both teams traded goals with senior Will Parreaguire capping the scoring with a power play tally at the 6:41 mark to close out a 7-4 win for North Allegheny.

Josh Bailey earned the victory in net for the Tigers with 28 saves. Vinnie Cascone took the loss for the Vikings, stopping 21 of 28 shots.

The win gives North Allegheny a 2-0 record to start the season, while Central Catholic slides to 1-2. The Tigers will visit Peters Township on Tuesday at 9:00 p.m. in a rematch of last year’s Class AAA Penguins Cup Final. The game will be broadcast live via the internet on the North Allegheny Sports Network.
