NA’s Winning Streak Snapped at Six By Pine-Richland

Pine-Richland snapped North Allegheny’s six game winning streak on Monday night with a 4-1 win at the Baierl Ice Complex. The Tigers held 1-0 through two periods but the Rams netted four goals in the third to claim the win.

The defenses for both teams permitted few scoring opportunities in the first period but North Allegheny cashed in on a power play late in the stanza for a 1-0 lead. Tyler Lamark and Connor Chi assisted on a Tyler Sippel goal with just 55 seconds remaining in the period to give NA a one-goal advantage.

After a scoreless second period, Pine-Richland tied the game 33 seconds into the third period on an Esai Morse goal to even the score at 1-1. At the 6:10 mark of the period, Alex Erlain scored what turned out to be the game-winning goal for a 2-1 Pine-Richland lead. The Rams added two more goals from Charles Mill and Lucas Enos to close out a 4-1 win.

Pine-Richland outshot North Allegheny 31-13 on the night. Daniel Stauffer needed to make only 12 saves to earn the win. NA goalie Tyler Boyles made 27 saves fore the Tigers.

Despite the loss, North Allegheny remains in first place with a 10-1-1 record and 21 points in the standings. Pine-Richland improves to 5-2-1 on the season and sits in fifth place in the Class AAA. The Tigers will take on Canon-McMillan on the road on Tuesday, December 17 at 7:00 p.m. The game will be broadcast live via the internet on the North Allegheny Sports Network.
