North Allegheny Blows By Butler On Senior Night

On senior night at Newman Stadium, the North Allegheny girls’ lacrosse team battered beleaguered Butler, 21-13, on Monday night in Section 3-AAA action. Appropriate to the evening’s festivities, senior Abby Washabaugh led the way with a seven-goal performance. Other seniors honored before the game included Nadia Durante, Caroline Palguta, Katie Shideler, Jenna Prutting, CeCe Groom and Maya Disora. Of the seniors, Prutting netted two goals, while Durante and Palguta added one goal each.

With the Tigers scoring a season-high 21 goals, there was plenty of scoring to go around. Sophomore Brooke Ferringer tallied four goals, sophomore Paige Jones totaled three goals, junior Anna Barton netted two goals and junior Julia Puntil chipped in with a goal.

Puntil was also effective on defense, along with Shideler in net. Sophomore Nicole Atkinson, junior Bethany Schreiber, junior Cassidy Heim and DiSora all contributed to NA’s defensive effort.

With the win, North Allegheny improves to 6-5 overall and 5-4 in section play. Butler falls to 1-11 overall and 0-10 in the section. The Lady Tigers visit Sewickley Academy on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. for an important contest with playoff implications.
