North Allegheny Crushes Mars For Non-Section Win

The North Allegheny swim team returned to the pool with a non-section win over Mars.  The girls’ team won every event in their 101 – 60 victory.  The boys’ team won every event except the 500 Free in their 101 – 62 win.

The NA girls’ team took the top three places in the 200 IM, 100 Fly and the 100 Free.  In the 200 IM, Aimee Verardi was the top finisher, followed by Caitlyn Edwards and Emma Kunzmann.  Aimee was a double winner as she also took top honors in the 100 Breast.  Torie Buerger led Olivia Laun and Sydney Monteparte in a sweep of the 100 Fly.  Michaela Hinkson, Nicole Marnell and Emma Kunzmann were the top three finishers in the 100 Free. Olivia Kraus won the 200 Free, Lila McGrath won the 50 Free and Marlyn Root finished off the freestyle wins by touching first in the 500 Free.  Anna Verardi was the winner in the 100 Back.  Lila McGrath, Marlyn Root, Anna Verardi, and Torie Buerger began the meet with a 200 Medley Relay victory.  Aimee Verardi, Emma Kunzmann, Torie Buerger, and Olivia Kraus won the 200 Free Relay.  Olivia Kraus, Anna Verardi, Caitlyn Edwards and Torie Buerger completed the girls’ team victories by winning the 400 Free Relay.

The boys’ team was led by Ricky Mihm who had victories in the 200 IM and the 100 Free.  The trio of Tolik Borisov, R.J. Swanson and John Ehling finished 1-2-3 in the 100 Fly.  Patrick Upton led fellow freshman Evan Soulia and senior Eric Staab in taking the top 3 spots in the 100 Back. Eben Krigger, Jack Wright and Andrew Yang cruised to the 1-2-3 finish in the 100 Breast.  Eben Krigger won the 200 Free and Jack Wright touched first in the 50 Free.  The relays were started with Tolik Borisov, Audric Pastor, Jack Wright and Eric Staab winning the 200 Medley Relay.  John Ehling, Richard Jensen, Eben Krigger and Audric Pastor won the 200 Free Relay and Andrew Zhang, Josh Galecki, Jerry Chen and Eben Krigger closed out the boys’ team wins by winning the 400 Free Relay.

In the diving competition Nathan Zeigler finished first for the boys and Morgan Rutan was the top NA female diver with her second place finish.

The team returns to the pool on Tuesday, January 30, with an away meet at Bethel Park.  The meet begins at 5:00 p.m.
