North Allegheny Rolls To Win At Moon, 14-4
North Allegheny led wire to wire and claimed a 14-4 non-section triumph at Moon on Friday night. The Tigers jumped out to an 11-1 halftime lead and coasted to the win in the second half. Junior Paige Jones opened the scoring in the first half and paced the Tigers with a team-high four goals, two assists and an astonishing 11 groundballs.
The Tigers also received a typical strong performance from junior Brooke Ferringer with three goals, two assists, a caused turnover and three groundballs. Senior Anna Barton touched the scoresheet with two goals and an all-around solid game. Junior Ryley McClelland also scored two goals on the night and added two groundballs.
Other NA goal scorers included junior Nicole Atkinson and freshman Skye DePrado and Katie Oates. Atkinson had a highlight reel end-to-end goal and consistently delivered with 10 of 17 draw controls. DePrado added an assist and was 3-for-3 on draw controls, while Oates chipped in with four groundballs.
Leading the North Allegheny defense was Julia Puntil with three ground balls. Junior goalie Becca Wickett picked up the win in net with eight saves and two groundballs.
North Allegheny sits at 4-5 overall following the non-section win. The Lady Tigers host Pine-Richland on Monday night at 7:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast live via the internet on the North Allegheny Sports Network.
