The North Allegheny Tigers fell to non-section opponent, the Fox Chapel Foxes, 3-2, in a battle that came down to the bottom of the seventh inning of play.

Both pitchers made it difficult for the respective offenses to produce; Fox Chapel’s Mackenzie Burkovich had 13 strikeouts, while North Allegheny freshman Anne Melle had eight.

Offensively, junior Alaina Whipkey scored on some heads up baserunning in the first inning following a walk. Senior Ashley Solenday delivered an RBI in the sixth inning, scoring sophomore Meghan McDonough, who singled in her previous at-bat.

North Allegheny’s defense held the Foxes to a single run until the seventh inning. Fox Chapel rallied for two runs in the bottom of the seventh for a walk-off finish.

The Tigers fall to 1-4 overall and will look to rebound in the section opener at Seneca Valley on Friday.
