In the Section 2-AAA opener, the North Allegheny boys’ lacrosse team traveled to nearby North Hills and came away with a dominant 15-6 win over the host Indians at Martorelli Stadium.

North Hills shot the opening salvo just 1:44 into the game on a marker by Alec Feigel to take an early 1-0 lead. However, the quick strike by the Indians wasn’t enough to keep pace with the big guns of North Allegheny. Following Feigel’s goal, the Tigers scored nine unanswered to take a 9-1 lead into halftime. To their credit, the Indians tried to rally back with four consecutive goals in the second half to cut the NA advantage to 9-5 with 11:16 remaining in the fourth quarter. North Allegheny once again responded in kind and scored six of the final seven goals in the fourth quarter to pull away for a 15-6 triumph.

Three Tigers netted hat tricks or better, led by freshman Jonathan Castillo with four goals, while fellow freshman Nick Sichak and senior Marc Bartolomucci finished with three markers each. Sophomore Travis Lamark tickled the back of the net with a pair of goals. Junior M.J. Schwemmer, junior Evan Lyon and sophomore Sam Porter all scored single goals each. Along with his three goals, Bartolomucci helped facilitate the offense with four assists and senior Christian Tedder added three assists.

Senior long-stick middie Marco Pascarella had his typical strong all-around game with three groundballs and four takeaways. Senior Sean Boal and sophomore Colman Craft had three groundballs each. Freshman Luke Rohan was dominant at the X, winning nine faceoffs. Freshman Owen Urschler was also strong on faceoffs with four wins on draws. Senior goalie Beck Taucher posted 10 saves and three groundballs to earn the victory and was outstanding late in the game.

With the win, North Allegheny improves to 2-3 overall and 1-0 in Section 2-AAA action, while North Hills falls to 2-3 overall and 0-1 in the section. The Tigers will visit St. Ignatius (OH) on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m.
