The North Allegheny girls’ lacrosse team headed north on Wednesday night and dropped a narrow 18-15 decision to first-place Seneca Valley at NexTier Stadium. The Tigers came out strong in the first half and led, 10-9, at intermission.

Sophomore Brooke Ferringer netted the first goal of the night and paced the NA offense with a six-goal performance. Fellow sophomore Paige Jones buried the ball in the back of the net three times. Senior Abby Washabaugh tallied four goals, while seniors Nadia Durante and Caroline Palguta also scored, contributing to the Tigers attack. Sophomore Nicole Atkinson chipped in with two assists. Despite the offensive showcase, Seneca Valley outscored the Tigers, 9-5, in the second half to remain undefeated in the section.

On defense, the Tigers were led by juniors Cassidy Heim, Julia Puntil, and Bethany Schreiber, as well as senior Maya DiSora and sophomore Vivian Lindsay.  Senior goalie Katie Shideler played well in net, facing a tough Raiders team.

North Allegheny falls to 3-3 overall and 3-2 in Section 3-AAA. Seneca Valley improves to 4-1 overall and 4-0 in section play. The Tigers will host North Hills on Monday night at 6:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast live via the internet on the North Allegheny Sports Network.
