A six-goal third period guided the North Allegheny Ice Hockey team to an 8-4 win over Pine-Richland Thursday night at the Baierl Ice Complex.

The Tigers got on the board early thanks to a breakaway goal from Junior Evan Perrotte about five minutes into the first. That lead didn’t last long, as the Rams aggressive offensive attack went to work through the remainder of the period. Senior forward Daniel Muldoon tied the game two minutes later, followed by a flurry of goals from Ryan Peacock, Shawn Peacock (Power Play) and Joshua Folmer. NA was facing a three-goal deficit after one period.

Senior forward Luke Evans scored the only goal of the second frame on the power play about five minutes in. Senior defenseman Trey Gallo and freshman forward Luke Walkauskas had the assists on the play. The Tigers trailed 4-2 at the intermission.

NA carried good momentum over from the second period into the third, as senior forward Matt Irvin took a pass from Evans and connected on a wicked backhand shot to bring the Tigers within just a few minutes into the final frame.  NA went on the power play six minutes later and Irvin scored once again to tie the game off a feed from Gallo. The senior captain found his own goal to re-take the lead on a shot from the point four minutes later. Irvin and Evans assisted Gallo’s tally. The Tigers found insurance goals late in the period from junior forward Ryan Jackman on the power play, senior forward Brett Baker on the empty net and sophomore defenseman Tyler Bianchin.

Gallo earned Wright Automotive Player of the Game laurels for his three-point night. Irvin and Evans also accounted for three points.  Senior Rylan Murphy made 20 stops in the win.

The Tigers improve to 2-0-1 on the young season and are back at home next Thursday in a matchup with Cathedral Prep.
