Tigers Begin WPIAL Title Defense With Romp Over Kiski, 8-0

The North Allegheny boys’ soccer team started defense of their WPIAL title with a commanding 8-0 victory over the Kiski Area Cavaliers on Friday.

Senior Josh Luchini scored the first goal of the season at 32:29 with a deft left-footed pass from Sean Atwater. Senior Cam Yurick tallied his first goal of the season from close range thanks to an assist from Luke Stephen 21:34 to improve the North Allegheny lead to 2-0. Yurick again found the back of the net at 16:14 of the first half with a feed from Luchini upping the score to 3-0.  Kiski tried to attack but the defensive backfield of Nick Williams, Ethan Schenk and Sam Neal kept the ball away from the Tigers net and goalie Grant Glorioso.  Again at 13:20, Atwater found forward Luchini up the field who buried his shot for a 4-0 lead at 13:20 of the half. Ryan Earle, Jonathan Ross, Nico Ramirez, Ian  Wilson and Sam Wilson entered the contest and gave the Tigers quality minutes in the first half which ended with the Tigers enjoying an 11-0 advantage in the shots on goal department to go along with a 6-0 corner advantage.

In the second half North Allegheny continued to attack, and at 34:04, Zach Marzula scored an unassisted goal in front to make it 5-0, Tigers.  Josh Rouser got into the act at 30:34 with a well-placed cross to Luchini in front who directed it into the net for his third goal and a commanding 6-0 lead.  Repaying the favor, Luchini found Rouser in front at 21:29 who beat the Cavalier goalie for a 7-0 lead. Substituting in came Nick Bridges, Ramirez, both Wilson’s, Earle, Isaac Ciocca, Stanley Owens, Donovan Brennan, Kyle Kaczmarek, Ross and goalie Devon Angermeier. At 4:44 Ross scored his first varsity goal on an assist from Earle. The Tigers enjoyed an 11-1 advantage in shots with a 5-0 corner disparity in the second half.

The 1-0 Tigers travel Saturday to an always ready and prepared Mars team in an important out of section contest.  Start time is set for 7:00 p.m.
