Tigers Blank Blue Devils, 2-0

Posted on:

For the second time this season, the North Allegheny field hockey team earned a shutout victory over Mt. Lebanon, posting a 2-0 win over the Blue Devils on Wednesday night in Section 1-AAA action. It’s the sixth time NA has blanked an opponent this season.

North Allegheny outshot Mt. Lebanon, 6-2, and scored the game’s first goal in the opening stanza. Sophomore forward Claire Cho fed a pass in the circle that was tipped into the Mt. Lebanon net by junior Sarah Renninger with 4:43 to play in the first quarter for a 1-0 lead.

In a low-scoring affair, NA’s one-goal lead remained intact until the Tigers added on late in the third quarter. With 2:21 remaining in the third period, freshman Josie Schomburg scored on a rebound for a 2-0 lead. The Tigers defense made sure the two-goal lead would be more than enough for their fifth win in the last six games.

With the victory, North Allegheny improves to 7-5 overall and 5-2 in Section 1-AAA. Mt. Lebanon falls to 1-5 in section play. The Tigers will host Peters Township on Tuesday night in another section contest. The game will be broadcast live by the North Allegheny Sports Network.
