Tigers Blast Butler, 6-1

The North Allegheny ice hockey team won its third straight game on Monday night with a 6-1 triumph over the Butler Golden Tornado at the Baierl Ice Complex. Seniors Erik Chidester and Dawson Richard were the key figures in the win, each tallying two goals en route to a five-point night.

In the first period, it was senior Tyler Wilson who jump started the Tigers with a goal, assisted by Bernardo Vieira and Justin Kidd, to give NA a 1-0 lead. Chidester and Richard assisted on John Parks goal at the 4:34 mark of the second period to advance the Tigers lead to 2-0. Butler trimmed the score to 2-1 when Taite Dusheck scored at the 5:41 mark of the second, however NA ended the period with the momentum thanks to a Chidester power-play goal, assisted by Richard, for a 3-1 NA advantage.

Richard and Chidester took over the game in the third period to secure the win. Richard scored twice and Chidester netted another goal to give the Tigers an insurmountable 6-1 lead. In net, Ryan Heil got the start and stopped 25 of 26 shots faced.

North Allegheny improves to 5-1-1 on the season following the win. Butler remains in last place in Class AAA with a 1-6-1 record. The Tigers will take to the ice again after Thanksgiving with a “road” contest against Seneca Valley at the Baierl Ice Complex on Monday. The opening faceoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
