Tigers Defeat Cathedral Prep In Home Opener

It was a welcome homecoming for the North Allegheny boys’ basketball team on Friday night as the Tigers topped Cathedral Prep in their home opener, 71-56.

The Tigers shot 59-percent from the field in the first half to build a 39-25 lead. NA hit 51-percent of its shots on the evening and rolled to the non-section win over their District 10 foe.

Junior Mike Iuzzolino led the way with a 23-point performance, connecting on 7 of 10 from the field and 4 of 4 from 3-point land. Nico Erimias and Justin Altmeyer both finished in double figures with 10 points each.

Prep was paced by Liam Galla, who scored a team-high 19 points. The Ramblers were limited to 34-percent shooting on the evening and only 28-percent in the first half.

North Allegheny improves to 2-2 on the season with the victory. The Tigers will host Obama Academy on Tuesday night in another non-section affair.
