Tigers Dispatch Golden Tornado, 36-21
The North Allegheny defense limited Butler to just 21-percent shooting as the Tigers calmed the Golden Tornado, 36-21, on Thursday night in section play. The Tigers also held the Golden Tornado to 3 of 21 shooting from beyond the arc.
In a defensive struggle, North Allegheny was also slowed by the Butler defense but managed enough offense to claim the win. Leading 16-15 at the half, the NA defense permitted only six more points for the remainder of the game and the Tigers pulled away for the win. Senior Hailey Zeise fell a rebound shy of a double-double with a game-high 10 points and nine boards. Junior Courtney Roman posted seven points and junior Madelyn Fischer added six points and four rebounds. For Butler, Kylee Lewandowski and Jenna Kunst netted six points each.
With the win, North Allegheny leaps to 12-1 overall and 3-1 in Section 1. Butler slips to 8-4 overall and 2-2 in the section. The Lady Tigers will return to action on Tuesday against the North Hills Indians at 6:30 p.m. The contest will be broadcast live via the internet on the North Allegheny Sports Network.
