Tigers Edged By Rams, 2-1

Connor Salbury’s goal with 10:01 remaining in the third period lifted Pine-Richland Richland to a 2-1 win over North Allegheny on Monday night. Despite the loss in the regular season finale, the Tigers will enter the playoffs as the No. 1 seed in the upcoming Class AAA Penguins Cup playoffs, which will begin next week.

In the first period, Richard Wild gave Pine-Richland a 1-0 lead with a goal at the 10:12 mark of the period.

The Tigers evened the score at 1-1 on a Will Parreaguirre goal at the 3:27 mark of the second period. Connor Chi and Karl Fuchs assisted on the Parreaguirre tally.

Salsbury’s goal in the third period proved to be the game winner to propel the Rams to a 2-1 victory.

NA goalie Tyler Boyles played well in net with 31 saves. Pine-Richland’s Daniel Stauffer earned the win by stopping 24 of 25 shots.

Concluding the regular season, North Allegheny sits atop Class AAA with 31 points and a 15-4-1 record. Pine-Richland is 11-6-2 and has one more game remaining in the season. Meanwhile, the Tigers will await the postseason for an opportunity to repeat as Penguins Cup champions.
