Tigers Edged Late By Blue Devils’ Fourth Quarter Rally, 8-7

The North Allegheny boys’ lacrosse team dropped a narrow 8-7 decision on the road at Mt. Lebanon on Thursday night in non-section play. The Tigers led 5-1 at the half and 7-4 after three quarters before the host Blue Devils rallied for the win in the fourth quarter.

It was a great start for North Allegheny in the early going as an Evan Lyon goal and back-to-back tallies by Marc Bartolomucci gave North Allegheny a 3-0 lead at the end of one period. Senior Devin Prettyman got Mt. Lebanon on the board with 8:10 to play in the second quarter, but NA senior Christian Tedder scored with 6:04 in the period and Lyon added another before halftime to give the Tigers a 5-1 lead at intermission.

Goals by Jonathan Castillo and Bartomolucci, his third of the night, helped North Allegheny maintain a 7-4 lead at the conclusion of the third period. However, the NA attack hit a dry spell in the fourth period for a second straight game and Mt. Lebanon mounted a comeback with four unanswered goals in the final stanza, including the game-winner by Colton Cramer in the waning seconds, to lift the Blue Devils to a stunning 8-7 win. Sophomore Joseph Hetz led the Blue Devils attack with a pair of goals.

For North Allegheny, senior Matthew Miller had a fine defensive effort with four groundballs and four takeaways. Senior goalie Beck Taucher notched 10 saves on 18 shots. Mt. Lebanon senior goalie Sam Myers earned the win on the other side of the ledger.

Freshman FOGO Luke Rohan had six faceoff wins for the Tigers, while Marco Pascarella and Colman Craft each posted four groundballs and one takeaway.

North Allegheny slips to 1-3 overall following the non-section loss. The Tigers will play their section opener on Friday night with a visit to North Hills.
