Tigers Ground Eagles, 3-1

In a rematch of the 2020 PIAA semifinals, the North Allegheny girls’ soccer team earned a 3-1 victory at Cumberland Valley on Saturday afternoon in a tough non-section contest. Along with NA’s 1-0 win against the Eagles in the 2020 Final Four, the Tigers also posted a 2-0 win in the 2021 season opener over CV. In similar fashion, NA again pulled out an impressive victory against their foe from District 3.

On Saturday, the Tigers and Eagles were scoreless much of the first half until freshman Emma Schupansky scored her first career goal with 11:42 remaining for a 1-0 lead.

In the second half, North Allegheny stretched the lead to 2-0 on a goal by senior Lucia Wells with 28:22 on the clock. Sophomore Izzy Costa put the game away with 11:15 to play for a 3-0 lead. Cumberland broke the shutout on a goal by senior Rylee Fry in the waning minutes to bring the final score to 3-1, North Allegheny.

With the win, the Tigers improves to 2-0 overall on the young season. NA will open section play on Monday night with a visit to Shaler to take on the Titans.
