Tigers Nipped by Raiders in Pitchers’ Duel, 1-0

For the second consecutive day, North Allegheny and Seneca Valley took part in a pitchers’ duel and this time it was the Raiders who earned a shutout victory by blanking the Tigers 1-0 on Tuesday afternoon. Senior Nathan Malak kept NA hitters off balance and earned the victory with a three-hit, complete game effort with six strikeouts and just one walk.

North Allegheny starter Connor Smith was also impressive and twirled five innings of scoreless baseball, yielding only four hits and one walk, while fanning seven batters. Reliever Spencer Barnett took the loss and surrendered the game’s only run in the bottom of the sixth inning. Seneca Valley sophomore Creed Erdos drove in Luke Anderton in the sixth to help the Raiders secure the 1-0 win.

Following Tuesday’s outcome, North Allegheny slips to 2-1 overall and 1-1 in Section 1-6A. Seneca Valley improves to 4-1 overall and 1-1 in section play. The Tigers will visit Plum on Thursday night in a non-section contest.
