Tigers Pounce On Pine-Richland For Section Win

North Allegheny led wire to wire and topped the Pine-Richland Rams on Friday night for a 59-53 victory.  The Tigers leaped to a 37-22 advantage by halftime and coasted past the Rams in the second half.  Senior Elijah Zeise narrowly missed out on a double-double, scoring 14 points and pulling down eight rebounds. Senior guard Joe Mancini posted a game-high 17 points and was 2 of 6 from beyond the arc.

The Tigers pressure defense also played a role in the win as senior David Haus reeled in five steals and senior Mike Carter followed with three thefts. Haus also totaled nine points and seven boards. For Pine-Richland, three players finished in double figures with Dean Steliotes pacing the Rams with 14 points.  Connor Polce and Andrew Petcash scored 11 points apiece.

With the win, North Allegheny improves to 12-2 overall and 6-2 in Section 3-AAAA.  Pine-Richland falls to 6-8 overall and 3-5 in section play.  The Tigers will host Shaler on Tuesday night in a home game that will be broadcast live via the internet on the North Allegheny Sports Network.  Tip-off is slated for 7:30 pm.
