Tigers Power Play Mauls Mt. Lebanon, 7-4

North Allegheny jumped out to a 5-0 lead and staved off a Mt. Lebanon rally for a 7-4 win on Monday night at the Mt. Lebanon Ice Center. The Tigers were a perfect 3-for-3 on the power play, including three goals with the man advantage in the first period.

Trey Gallo, Lorenzo Colaizzi and Ryan Jackman all scored power player markers in the opening stanza for an immediate 3-0 lead. The Tigers stretched the lead to 5-0 on goals by Evan Perrotte and Luke Evans with 11:00 remaining in the second period. Mt. Lebanon fought back late in the second period with goals by Jacob Lehman and Callan Wilcox, cutting the score to 5-2, North Allegheny.

The Tigers struck quickly in the third period, just 52 seconds in, courtesy of Perrotte’s second goal of the night for a 6-2 advantage. The Blue Devils edged closer thanks to a goal from Speed Stasiowski, and another by Lehman at the 7:40 mark, trimming the NA lead to 6-4. North Allegheny maintained its advantage and put the game away on an empty net goal by Evans, his second of the night and team-leading fourth of the season, to close out a 7-4 victory.

North Allegheny goalie Andrew Long picked up the win with 14 saves. Mt. Lebanon’s Austin Martin stopped 30 pucks in a losing effort.

With the win, North Allegheny improves to 3-0-1 on the season, while Mt. Lebanon falls to 1-4 on the campaign. The Tigers look to keep up their winning ways with a home game against Cathedral Prep on Thursday at 9:10 p.m.
