Tigers Rain 3’s, Storm Past Raiders For Section Win

With hot shooting from the perimeter, the North Allegheny girls’ basketball team buried the Seneca Valley Raiders on Monday night, 71-35, for a Section 1-6A victory. The Tigers poured in 13 3-pointers on the night, led by sophomore Emma Fischer with 6 for 6 shooting from beyond the arc and a team-high 18 points. For her efforts, Fischer was named the Wright Automotive Player of the Game.

North Allegheny started fast and raced to a 20-5 lead after one quarter of play. From there, the Tigers ballooned the advantage through the remainder of the game to win their 25th in a row in the head-to-head series with the Raiders.

Along with Fischer, three other Tigers finished in with double figures. Junior Lizzy Groetsch totaled 17 points, and freshmen Jasmine Timmerson and Cam Phillips netted 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Playing without 6-1 forward Maddie Karchut, the Raiders were paced by sophomore Olivia West with 15 points.

North Allegheny improves to 12-3 overall and 8-1 in Section 1-6A. Seneca Valley falls to 10-5 overall and 5-4 in the section. The Tigers return to action on Friday with a 6:00 p.m. contest at Fox Chapel.
