Tigers Rally For Hard-Fought Win At Cornerstone Christian

The North Allegheny girls’ basketball team traveled to Northeast Ohio on Friday and earned a hard-fought non-section win over Cornerstone Christian Academy, 60-54.

Trailing 15-7 through one quarter of play, the Tigers stormed back in the second quarter to take a 28-25 lead by halftime. In the second half, the lead changed hands several times before North Allegheny gained command in the fourth quarter. The Tigers outscored the Patriots, 23-14, in the final stanza to prevail, 60-54.

Three players finished in double figures for North Allegheny, led by junior Lizzy Groetsch with 19 points. Junior Paige Morningstar netted 15 points and freshman Jasmine Timmerson added 13 points.

North Allegheny jumps to 9-1 overall with the victory. The Tigers will have another road trip on Monday with a 5:30 p.m. contest at St. Joseph’s Central High School in West Virginia.
