Tigers Rally In Final Quarter To Beat Parkland

North Allegheny scored two goals in the final five minutes to beat Parkland, 11-10, on Sunday afternoon. The victory capped a tough weekend of competition in the Lehigh Valley.  The Tigers fell to Emmaus on Saturday by a score of 9-4.

In the victory over Parkland, the game was tight throughout with neither team leading by more than two goals. With the Tigers up 9-8 in the fourth quarter, Parkland took the lead on back-to-back goals by Jake Billera to put the Trojans ahead, 10-9.  North Allegheny tied the score with 4:41 to play on a Kyle Rullan tally. A little over a minute later, senior Alec McGovern netted the game winning goal with 3:28 remaining to give the Tigers an 11-10 triumph.  Senior Stephen Kelleher assisted on both fourth period goals.

Individually, Rullan and McGovern both finished with hat tricks for the Tigers.  Kelleher and Gaven Hagen scored two goals apiece and freshman Alec Vissotski added a goal in the victory. John Abbondanza saw the majority of the playing time in net and made nine saves.

With the win over Parkland, North Allegheny improves to 4-3 overall. The Tigers return to section play on Wednesday night with a home contest against Shady Side Academy.  The game will be broadcast live via the internet on the North Allegheny Sports Network.  Start time is slated for 7:00 pm.
